To engage successfully in today’s world, families need to make sound and well-informed financial decisions not only for today, but also for their future. Money is considered a part of a child’s everyday life beginning at an early age with observations of the money habits of adults, and continuing with observation of these habits throughout their entire lives.
Sesame Workshop India Trust, as part of a global consortium with the MetLife Foundation, launched “Sapna, Bachat, Udaan: Arthik Bal Har Parivar Ka Haq” in October 2013, an initiative to promote long-lasting knowledge acquisition and positive attitude and behavior changes in young children and their families related to financial empowerment.
Sesame Workshop India Trust delivered the project in select districts from three states (Delhi, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand) through a multiple media approach, which included television, social media, digital games, and community engagement. Community engagement projects were centered in Delhi, Jharkhand and Rajasthan.
The project has engaged with 130,000 women and 3-8-year-old children through direct community engagement.
